The Triangle Club of Montgomery County hosted its 53rd Anniversary Awards Banquet Thursday night at Presidential Caterers.
The ceremony honored student-athletes from 25 high schools who excelled on the field of play, in the classroom and out in the community.
“The students are so impressive it’s hard to put into words how good they all are,” Triangle Club President Barbara Harrington Hladik said. “They are all deserving. Any one of them could have won tonight and we do wish we could give them all scholarships.”
Bishop McDevitt’s Alexander Wilson won the William F. Dannehower Award and a $3,000 scholarship.
Wilson earned varsity letters in soccer, baseball and football. He was a goaltender for the soccer team, which won the District 12 championship earlier this school year. In football, Wilson earned First Team All Catholic League honors as a kicker. He is currently a captain for the baseball team.
Wilson gives back to his community as an Eagle Scout and an exterior firefighter and rescue operations support member for the Weldon Fire Company.
Academically, Wilson is ranked No. 2 out of 90 seniors at McDevitt. He has a perfect grade point average and has taken every AP class the school offers.
Wilson will attend La Salle University in the fall.
