Currently, Bishop McDevitt offers the following sports:

The Bishop McDevitt Athletic Department is excited to begin another year of competition in the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). Bishop McDevitt students are encouraged to participate in both varsity and junior varsity level athletic programs.

Sports Fees

The required sports fee of $150.00 per sport will be added to your Smart Tuition Account upon registration for the sport. A sports fee helps offset the rising cost of transportation and other expenses in the athletic programs.  All information concerning the due dates of each fee will be handled by the Athletic Department.  A final roster provided by the Coach will indicate whether a student is participating in a particular sport.  All students on the final roster are required to pay the sports fee and any other fees associated with the sport even if they choose to quit or are dropped from the program.  A student may not go out for another sport until all fees from the prior sport has been paid.

 

Physical Examinations

Students participating in any sport must have on file in the Student Affairs Office the required PIAA Sports Physical form signed after June 1st.  Students may not participate in any sport without this physical, which must be renewed yearly.  This Physical Form can be found below.

 

Uniform & Equipment Fees

Student athletes may be required to purchase a uniform or equipment package as part of the sports teams.

 

Clearance Cards

Sports Fees, Uniform/Equipment Fees, and PIAA Physicals will be collected from each athlete on or before the first day of the season.  No student will be allowed to participate without paying the required fees and turning in the PIAA physical.  Athletes will be given a clearance card when fees and physicals are turned in to the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs.  The clearance card is given to the coach and the athlete is permitted to participate.

 

Fall Sports Due Date

Students who wish to participate in Football, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Soccer, Cheerleading, or Volleyball may turn in their PIAA Physical and Sports Fee beginning on Monday, August 14th from 8-3 PM in the Business Office at Bishop McDevitt High School.  Once a student has turned in his/her sports fee, uniform/equipment fee, and PIAA physical form, he/she will receive their Clearance Card.  Coaches will not allow a student to participate without the Clearance Card.
