Mrs. Chung Retires October 19, 2007

Mrs. Judith K. Chung

Bishop McDevitt HS Librarian

“They say that all good things must come to an end and my years at McDevitt have been good to and for me. I have enjoyed interacting with wonderful people both students, parents and faculty. Lately, I’ve been thinking of so many of you who have touched my life and smiling inwardly at memorable incidents. However, it’s time to start a new chapter in “The Chronicles of Chung”.

My husband and I have moved to Jayess, Mississippi (about 1 ½ hours northwest of New Orleans) and are enjoying our new home and neighborhood.

We have 40 acres which we share with deer, wild turkeys and other of God’s creatures. The construction projects have started and we will be involved with those for quite awhile. Then we have the list of twenty seven trips that my husband wants to take and that should keep us busy once the other projects are finished. I hope that if you get into the New Orleans area, you’ll get in touch with us and stop for a visit.” - Judy

Judy was appointed librarian of Bishop McDevitt High School by Superintendent, Robert Palestini, Ed.D., in August, 1981. Her prior experience included librarian at Portage (MI) Public Library and Fitzsimons Junior High School. While at McDevitt, Judy volunteered to serve in several ways: the Middle States Planning Team, the recruitment team, regular classroom substitute, supervised the cafeteria holding area each morning, monitored dress code compliance before each student assembly, member of the Faculty Coordinating Committee, taught Freshmen English and Freshmen Library Science. The McDevitt community will miss Judy’s pleasant and upbeat manner, her smile and her special sense of humor as we wish her a long and wonderful retirement, good health and happiness. So long, dear friend, we hope you will visit us often.
