Supporting Students with Scholarships
Supporting our students remains a pivotal mission for Bishop McDevitt High School and we invite you to join us in this important effort.
We proudly award more than 80 Merit Based scholarships annually totaling more than $175,000. This is a testament not only to our talented students, but to the caring dedication and generous spirits of our donors.
A scholarship gift is a powerful way to encourage our students to pursue a career that ignites their passions. We believe that a quality Catholic educational experience is an important part of developing future leaders. Because of your gifts, students who would not normally be able to have a Catholic education will now have the freedom to enrich their own student experiences. Your donations allow students to make the most of their time at Bishop McDevitt High School.
Giving to Existing Scholarships
Many donors enjoy the power of collective giving to support students, and make one-time or regular gifts to scholarships.
*Donate any amount to Lancer Leaders Scholarship Fund – Lancer Leadership Scholarships will be awarded to 8th grade students who show tremendous promise on what it means to be a Royal Lancer. Recipients of the award will be selected based on the following criteria: – Bishop McDevitt Scholarship Test Scores – Academic Performance (7th and 8th Grade Report Cards) – Personal Recommendations (teacher, coach, employer, etc.) – Leadership skills in extracurricular/co-curricular activities.
*Make a gift to one of our existing scholarship funds, such as the Presidential or Board of Trustees Scholarships. We can help find the right one for you, or you can browse the current scholarships here.
Establishing a Named Scholarship
While supporting today’s students, scholarship gifts can also honor those who have made a difference in your life. Named scholarships can pay tribute to a loved one or special faculty member, preserve a family name, or highlight a company presence. Scholarships connect the past, present and future!
Each scholarship gift is unique because it is based on your wishes. For example, you may:
Start your own Annual Scholarship in your name, in memory of a loved one, or in honor of a colleague or former professor. Annual scholarships are established with a minimum five-year commitment, and depend on a gift from a donor every year.
*$2,500 and above (recommended) annual commitment: You may name this scholarship. This level supports approximately 28 percent of tuition for one year.
*$4,000 annual commitment: You may name this scholarship. This level supports approximately 56 percent of tuition for one year.
*$7,050 annual commitment: You may name this scholarship. This level supports 100 percent of tuition for one year.
Scholarships can be funded with multiple payments, such as monthly credit card charges.
Scholarship Donor Benefits
*Meeting scholarship recipient(s) each year at the annual scholarship event or at a prescheduled time.
*Recognition in the Loyalist Publication and on our Donor Wall on our Website.
*Sharing a brief personal or family history and inspiration for your gift within the fund agreement, so your story will live on with your investment.
*The opportunity to name a fund to celebrate a family member, friend, or beloved faculty member, or bring honor to a business or organization.
Thank you for considering a scholarship gift and investing in our collective future. If you would like more information on how you can join our family of donors, please contact Kristin Conran at 215-887-5575 ext 256 or firstname.lastname@example.org

SCRIP is a term used for a different kind of fundraiser. Non-profit groups, such as Bishop McDevitt, purchase gift certificates at a discount rate and then resell them at face value. The thing that makes it different is that you do not need to spend extra money in order to help raise funds. You purchase gift certificates through Bishop McDevitt and use them just like cash. SCRIP can be purchased in denominations of $5, $10, $25, etc. This program has proven very successful in parishes and high schools throughout the area.
As participants purchase SCRIP, the discount amount from each transaction is recorded. For every $100 purchase of SCRIP, a student will receive $3.00 in tuition credit and the school will receive $2.00 towards the Bishop McDevitt Tuition Assistance Program. Anyone can purchase SCRIP and designate any student as the recipient of the tuition credit. The child’s student number will be their account number.
Bishop McDevitt High School would like to begin this program in early October. Parents will be able to walk in and purchase SCRIP during certain hours of the school day. Students may bring in SCRIP orders from home and drop them off in the Business Office during homeroom. Orders will be filled and returned to the student before the end of the school day.
SCRIP will be available from the following Supermarkets:
If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Hayes at 215-887-5575
