Daryl Nelson appointed Assistant Principal for Student Services

Dear McDevitt Family,

It is with tremendous enthusiasm that we share with you today the appointment of Daryl Nelson to the position of Assistant Principal for Student Services at Bishop McDevitt High School.

Daryl has worked in education since 1994, where he began his career as a teacher at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Over the years, Daryl has worked in various teaching and coaching roles throughout the Philadelphia area, including Raising Horizon Quest Charter School, West Oak Lane Charter School, and most recently Camelot High School.

Daryl has also taught at an alternative high school, Communities in Schools – Education Center, where he instructed in Health, Physical Education, and Art.

Daryl has also had a varied and successful career in coaching, serving as Track and Field and Football coaches at various Philadelphia institutions, such as, Saints John Neumann & Maria Goretti High School, LaSalle University, Boys Latin High School, the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation, the University of the Sciences, and most recently at Chestnut Hill College.

Daryl brings 25 years of hands on experience working with high school age students, in and out of the classroom. His attention to spiritual formation, as well as the development of the whole student, body and mind, has allowed Daryl to stand out from the crowd.

Daryl will begin immediately, and will spend this week acclimating to the campus and the position.
